Technology for wildfire detection and response

Our mission is to help prevent small ignitions from becoming catastrophic wildfires through earlier detection and actionable information for responders and communities.

Snuffed Wildfire Technology direction bullseye: a central mission to prevent catastrophic wildfires, surrounded by four technology areas — 01 sensing hardware (purpose-built thermal and optical for early ignition), 02 detection intelligence (observations into detections, alerts, awareness), 03 stratospheric sensing (persistent regional coverage with high fidelity and low latency), and 04 orbital applications (wide-area coverage with improved revisit).

We integrate sensing, data, and deployment technologies, test the critical assumptions, and use the evidence to guide development.

Cody is an aerospace engineer and entrepreneur based in Flagstaff, focused on technology development from early concept through working systems. He founded and leads Team Snuffed in the XPRIZE Wildfire Space-Based Detection & Intelligence Track, bringing engineering and product-development experience to earlier wildfire detection and practical tools for responders and communities.
Mike Felts

Mike is a Flagstaff Fire Battalion Chief and Paramedic with deep operational experience in wildfire and emergency response. He co-founded Snuffed to connect frontline needs with detection technology, and leads Advanced Fire Defense, which helps Northern Arizona property owners assess risk and strengthen protection before fire arrives.
